    Education Procurement Service (EPS) needs the supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of an Automated Thermal Desorber Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer (ATD-GCMS) for a 12-month period, with a maximum total value of 155,000 EUR. This equipment is required for Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) in the Mid-West region of Ireland to analyze ignitable liquids in vapour samples, such as debris from fire scenes, clothing, or other solid samples, to accurately and reliably determine the presence of ignitable liquids. The new ATD-GCMS will be an addition to the existing equipment in the Fires team of the Chemistry department to handle the volume of fire cases.

    About the bid

      Tenders are sought for the Supply, Delivery, Installation and Commissioning of an Automated Thermal Desorber coupled with a Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometry (ATD-GCMS) for the analysis of ignitable liquids in vapour samples. This will be an addition to the current ATD-GCMS in the Fires team of the Chemistry department to be able to deal with the volume of fire cases submitted to FSI. Materials submitted for analysis ignitable liquids include debris samples taken from a fire scene, clothing taken from suspects or victims, or any other solid sample where it is desired to determine whether or not there are ignitable liquids associated with it. Such samples are submitted to the Laboratory in sealed nylon bags. The customer need is for FSI to determine accurately, reliably and to an acceptable level of sensitivity whether or not such exhibits contain ignitable liquids.
