Green Jobs in the Circular Economy in Colombia III (PREVEC III) is a technical cooperation project implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), in partnership with key Colombian national institutions including the National Planning Department (DNP), the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MinAmbiente) and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism (MinCIT). Colombia's transition to a circular economy represents both an urgent climate imperative and a significant opportunity for sustainable economic development. PREVEC III responds to this challenge by supporting the development and scaling of climate-friendly circular economy business models in three priority sectors: textiles, tourism and agrifood, while promoting the creation of green and greened jobs and strengthening the conditions for sustainable production and consumption at national and subnational level. The project works across three interconnected areas: supporting companies to develop market-ready circular business models and access climate finance; facilitating technology transfer and innovation between German/European and Colombian partners; and translating project results into evidence-based policy dialogue at national and international level. It contributes to Colombia's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), the national climate finance agenda and international frameworks including the Paris Agreement, the UN 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Production and Consumption and the EU Green Deal. Results are tracked across five key dimensions: the regional scaling of circular economy business models beyond the main urban centres; small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) preparation for access to climate finance; the creation and verification of green and greened jobs with gender and vulnerability disaggregation; the application of circular economy innovations in Colombian enterprises; and corporate greenhouse gases (GHG) measurement and climate reporting. These dimensions are embedded in a results framework that links operational outputs to strategic outcomes, contributing to Colombia's climate commitments at national and international level. PREVEC III builds on a decade of GIZ engagement in circular economy in Colombia and is implemented together public institutions, private sector associations and subnational governments.
