Aalto University Foundation sr needs biodegradation and separation equipment, including a High-speed Centrifuge, Shaking Incubator, and two Benchtop High-speed Microcentrifuges, with optional Ultra-low Temperature Chest Freezer, Micropipettes, Electronic Pipette Controllers, and Multichannel Pipettes. This equipment is for a new biodegradation laboratory at Aalto University School of Chemical Engineering in Finland, to understand and quantify material degradation processes by microorganisms and other biological agents. The contract will be awarded based on comparison price.

    About the bid

THIS IS A CORRECTED INVITATION TO TENDER FOR A PREVIOUS PROCUREMENT PROCEDURE D/5483/01.01.04.00/2025 THAT WAS SUSPENDED. Please, note that only the Equipment requirements have been modified and no changes have been made to the contract terms. Aalto University School of Chemical Engineering is setting up a biodegradation laboratory to understand and quantify the processes by which natural or engineered materials are degraded or decomposed by microorganisms and other biological agents. This information is needed to develop biodegradable-by-design materials, develop new analytical techniques, propose new methodologies to assess materials biodegradability and to develop “living” materials. This procurement includes the following mandatory equipment: High-speed Centrifuge, Shaking Incubator and two Benchtop High-speed Microcentrifuges, as well as the following optional equipment: Ultra-low Temperature Chest Freezer, Micropipettes, Electronic Pipette Controllers and Multichannel Pipettes. Please, see Annex 1 for Requirement Specifications for the equipment.Main features of the procedureAalto University is a non-profit public entity and therefore must follow mandatory public procurement procedure in the procurement as defined in the Act on Public Procurement and Concession Contracts (1397/2016) (available in English at https://finlex.fi/en/laki/kaannokset/2016/en20161397.pdf). The selected procurement procedure follows the open procedure of 32 § of the aforementioned Act, where the Invitation to tender is made public, suitability of the tenderers is checked and received tenders are compared according to the set requirements. The tenders will be processed by checking the eligibility of the tenderers and the compliance of the tenders with the form of the invitation to tender. The tenders are compared in terms of the selection criteria. The contracting entity may ask additional questions or ask the tenderer to provide one or more of the required documents/certifications during the tendering process in order to verify that the tenderer meets the eligibility criteria and/or that the tender is compliant with the form of the invitation to tender. This procurement is not divided into lots because the contracting entity has evaluated it to be most efficient to execute the procurement with a single contract, taking into account the total economic impact and risk management.

Laboratory scale hydrogen membrane separation unit

The University of Oulu needs a compact laboratory-scale hydrogen membrane separation and characterization system for research activities related to hydrogen purification, gas separation processes, and membrane performance evaluation. The system, which should be delivered as a complete turnkey solution including hardware, software, documentation, commissioning, and training, must be suitable for installation and operation inside a laboratory fume hood with active ventilation of 0.3 m/s. It should support flexible research by enabling precise control of gas composition, flow, and pressure, provide reliable and reproducible experimental data, and facilitate membrane separation experiments, integrity verification, and safe operation with hydrogen-containing gas mixtures. The system must also have automated monitoring, process control, and data acquisition capabilities, and be designed for future integration of external equipment like humidification and vacuum systems. The maximum total value for the system, including all mandatory features, cannot exceed 100,000 Euros (0% VAT). The project is co-funded by the EU Just Transition Fund (JTF) and the Council of Oulu region, and the procurement is conditional upon the receipt of external funding. The contract duration is 6 months.

      Microscale thermophoresis device

Oulun yliopisto needs a spectral shift and microscale thermophoresis device for Biocenter Oulu, with a maximum total value of 189,000 EUR (excluding VAT). The device will be used to characterize and quantify nanoparticle interactions, including proteins, in solution without immobilization, and must enable assessment of sample quality and aggregation, differentiating binding events from aggregation. It needs to detect interactions based on changes in the emission spectrum of an excited fluorophore under isothermal conditions and create a microscopic non-isothermal temperature field to determine binding events based on temperature-related intensity changes and fluorescence intensity changes following thermophoresis. The device must have a measurable dynamic range of dissociation constant of at least nM-mM and binding affinity in at least nM-mM range, with low sample consumption (around 10 microlitres) and low nanomole of the labeled target. The contract duration is 36 months. The award criterion is the total price, weighted at 100%.
