El Consejo de Administración de Metropolitano de Tenerife, S.A. ha cancelado el concurso de proyectos para elegir las mejores propuestas e ideas para implantar un sistema de transporte ferroviario alternativo en el norte de la isla de Tenerife y adjudicar a uno de los ganadores la redacción del estudio de viabilidad, debido a que todas las ofertas, solicitudes de participación o proyectos fueron retirados o considerados inadmisibles. El concurso buscaba servicios de ingeniería relacionados con ferrocarriles en Tenerife, con una duración de 20 meses, y se recibieron 3 ofertas. La evaluación se basaba en criterios de calidad que incluían la viabilidad operacional, constructiva, territorial, ambiental, energética, financiera, económica y social, así como la coherencia con la planificación insular de movilidad y la solidez de la propuesta y el estudio.
