University of Galway has entered into an agreement with Waters for the delivery of High Performance Liquid chromatography equipment, including a Photodiode array detector, to purify natural products isolated from marine organisms. The equipment will be delivered in the West of Ireland, with a final contract value of 26,165 EUR. The selection was based on quality (70%) and price (30%), with Waters chosen due to the robustness of their equipment and the quality of their software.

As part of the DTIF project Restoare a High Performance Liquid chromatography equipment including a Photodiode array detector is needed to purify the natural products isolated from marine organisms (also named semi preparative). Three main suppliers of HPLC were contacted and they provided quotations. Waters is known to provide excellent and very robust equipment and they made a 50% discount on their new system. While Shimadzu was slightly cheaper Waters was selected for this CAN due to the robustness of their equipment and also quality of software provided.
