    The project will build a research, training and development laboratory focusing on the development of the latest battery technologies and materials at University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio Campus. In general, the project responds to the challenges of the green transition and specifically to the needs of the local economy in relation to the wider use of renewable energy and the commercial exploitation of technical solutions. This is essentially linked to the research and development of the latest battery technologies and the training of experts in this field. The laboratory will be equipped to produce, develop, and research both coin type and pouch type cells, with the capacity to provide solutions to both scientific research as well as the industry.

      Laboratory scale hydrogen membrane separation unit

      The University of Oulu needs a compact laboratory-scale hydrogen membrane separation and characterization system for research activities related to hydrogen purification, gas separation processes, and membrane performance evaluation. The system, which should be delivered as a complete turnkey solution including hardware, software, documentation, commissioning, and training, must be suitable for installation and operation inside a laboratory fume hood with active ventilation of 0.3 m/s. It should support flexible research by enabling precise control of gas composition, flow, and pressure, provide reliable and reproducible experimental data, and facilitate membrane separation experiments, integrity verification, and safe operation with hydrogen-containing gas mixtures. The system must also have automated monitoring, process control, and data acquisition capabilities, and be designed for future integration of external equipment like humidification and vacuum systems. The maximum total value for the system, including all mandatory features, cannot exceed 100,000 Euros (0% VAT). The project is co-funded by the EU Just Transition Fund (JTF) and the Council of Oulu region, and the procurement is conditional upon the receipt of external funding. The contract duration is 6 months.
