The Health Service Executive (HSE) in Ireland intended to establish a panel of four hospitals for the provision of paediatric orthopaedic procedures for conditions such as Spina Bifida and Scoliosis, with a contract duration of 12 months. The services were to be delivered throughout Ireland, with a focus on reducing waiting times for children and adolescents. A key requirement was that all medical devices and implants used in surgery must be CE marked. The HSE emphasized the need for hospitals of the highest quality in terms of clinical team, facilities, and resources, with the ability to provide the highest level of care to patients and their accompanying parent/guardian or carer. The tender was cancelled because all offers, requests to participate, or projects were withdrawn or found inadmissible, despite two bids being received.
