The University of Oulu in Finland needs a new terahertz spectroscopy and imaging system for its AEC / MIC unit, with a maximum total value of 150,000 euros (excluding VAT). This system, intended for research use, will complement existing infrastructure by providing a non-contact electromagnetic characterization method for the sub-THz/THz frequency range, allowing for the analysis of materials, coatings, printed structures, composites, and ceramics without damaging samples. The measurable quantities include the amplitude and phase of transmitted radiation and the derived absorption coefficient. The contract duration is 6 months. The sole award criterion is the total price.

    About the bid

The objective of the procurement is to acquire a new terahertz spectroscopy and imaging system suitable for research use for the AEC / MIC unit. The system will complement the infrastructure for materials manufacturing, processing, sample preparation, and microscopic examination developed within the FIRI project by introducing a non-contact electromagnetic characterization method for the sub-THz/THz frequency range. The system can be used to characterize the electromagnetic properties of materials, coatings, printed structures, composites, and ceramics without damaging the sample. The measurable quantities are the amplitude and phase of the transmitted radiation and absorption coefficient derived from them. Please note that the total amount of the system can not exceed 150 000 euros (0% VAT), including all mandatory features. Contracting authority can not accept tenders that exceed this amount. Optional features does not include to this total price. This procurement is co-funded by the Research Council of Finland through the FIRI (Finnish Research Infrastructure) programme. The text is an unofficial Finnish translation of the preceding English Ianguage text. In the case of any discrepancy or inconsistency between language the version shall prevail. Seuraava teksti on englanninkielisen Hankinnan kuvauksen suomenkielinen käännös. Mahdollisissa tulkintaeroissa englanninkielinen alkuperäisteksti on ensisijainen.

Laboratory scale hydrogen membrane separation unit

The University of Oulu needs a compact laboratory-scale hydrogen membrane separation and characterization system for research activities related to hydrogen purification, gas separation processes, and membrane performance evaluation. The system, which should be delivered as a complete turnkey solution including hardware, software, documentation, commissioning, and training, must be suitable for installation and operation inside a laboratory fume hood with active ventilation of 0.3 m/s. It should support flexible research by enabling precise control of gas composition, flow, and pressure, provide reliable and reproducible experimental data, and facilitate membrane separation experiments, integrity verification, and safe operation with hydrogen-containing gas mixtures. The system must also have automated monitoring, process control, and data acquisition capabilities, and be designed for future integration of external equipment like humidification and vacuum systems. The maximum total value for the system, including all mandatory features, cannot exceed 100,000 Euros (0% VAT). The project is co-funded by the EU Just Transition Fund (JTF) and the Council of Oulu region, and the procurement is conditional upon the receipt of external funding. The contract duration is 6 months.

      Microscale thermophoresis device

Oulun yliopisto needs a spectral shift and microscale thermophoresis device for Biocenter Oulu, with a maximum total value of 189,000 EUR (excluding VAT). The device will be used to characterize and quantify nanoparticle interactions, including proteins, in solution without immobilization, and must enable assessment of sample quality and aggregation, differentiating binding events from aggregation. It needs to detect interactions based on changes in the emission spectrum of an excited fluorophore under isothermal conditions and create a microscopic non-isothermal temperature field to determine binding events based on temperature-related intensity changes and fluorescence intensity changes following thermophoresis. The device must have a measurable dynamic range of dissociation constant of at least nM-mM and binding affinity in at least nM-mM range, with low sample consumption (around 10 microlitres) and low nanomole of the labeled target. The contract duration is 36 months. The award criterion is the total price, weighted at 100%.
